FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

Do you have sports?

Although we may not have any organized sports teams, we do have a full gymnasium with a basketball court and fitness room.  We have several organized fun coed games of volleyball and basketball throughout the year.  We also have a soccer field, a little league sized baseball diamond, and a tennis court.  There is a golf course locally.

What is there to do in the area?

Faith BCI is located in central Maine, surrounded by trees and rolling hills, and is not too far from almost everything:  beaches, shopping, mountains, lakes, the ocean.  We experience all 4 seasons, which allows opportunities for boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and fun in the sun during the warmer late summer months; campfires, hiking, moose watching, and the change in foliage in the fall; snowboarding, skiing, snowmobiling, tubing, and playing in the snow during the winter months; four-wheeling, mudding, and baseball in the spring.  Bangor is just 30 minutes from us, where you can find the Bangor Mall and other stores, movie theaters, restaurants, concerts, sporting events and much, much more!

What can I do with my degree?

With your Bachelor’s in Theological Studies, you can go right out into the ministry as a pastor, youth pastor, worship leader, missionary, Christian educator, or evangelist.  Or you can transfer your credits to further your education.

What do you offer academically? Majors? Minors?

Faith offers an Associate Degree in Theological Studies or a Bachelor’s Degree in Theological Studies.  Students can choose a minor in Pastoral Theology, Missions, Christian Education or Music.  See more on our cornerstone program or degree programs.

What are the dormitories like?

Faith currently has one dormitory building, Tracy Hall, with a floor for the ladies and a floor for the men.  The rooms in the dormitory are spacious and shared with one roommate.  They are furnished with 2 closets, a window (some have 2 windows), 2 dressers, 2 desks, 2 bookshelves, a single bed and a set of single bunk beds.  Each dormitory has a lounge with couches and a television; a kitchen area with refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, and eating space; laundry facilities and spacious bathrooms.  We also have limited space in the dormitory, on the first floor, for married couples.

How is the food?

We do our best here at Faith to give students a variety of balanced meals throughout the week.  Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner on most days, students are provided with fruits, vegetables, sandwiches, salads, soups, pasta dishes, meats, potatoes, rice, and much more.  If what’s being served doesn’t sound appealing, we have an on-campus “Snack Bar” offering a great selection of grilled and fried foods like chicken tenders, French fries, burgers, steak n cheese sandwiches, and other specials.

What kind of activities do you have?

At Faith, we aim to plan one organized activity each month.  Activities we have done in the past:  shopping, tubing, apple picking, a movie night, volleyball, softball, hiking, a game night, and bowling.  The Student Association also organizes several events throughout the year, such as Welcome Week, a Christmas Banquet, and Spirit Week, and students are encouraged to take advantage of our beautiful facilities and surroundings.

Are there ministry opportunities? Missions? Impact?

Students at Faith have opportunities to get involved with local churches, as they get plugged in and make it their “home” church while attending school.  They also have an opportunity to take a ministry course each semester while attending Faith, in which the school will schedule weekend services and a week-long Impact for the student to participate in.

Can I bring my car?

Yes!  We ask that you register your car with us, providing proof of registration and insurance, along with your license, and park in the designated student parking area of the campus.

Do you have financial aid? Scholarships?

Since we are not accredited through the government we cannot offer financial aid, but we do have limited scholarship opportunities for students unable to meet their financial obligations.  In the second and further years, there are opportunities for Work-Study, where students can be employed on campus.  We are currently in the process of working with an outside company regarding financing in the near future.

What is the cost?

At Faith BCI our goal is to keep the cost as low as possible.  A student can attend Faith for under $7,000 a year.

Cost breakdown:  Registration Fees – $225 (per semester), Tuition Fees – $1,250 (per semester), Dormitory Fees – $1,500 (per semester), Dues – $50 (per semester), Student Fees – $125 (yearly), Room Key Deposit – $200 (yearly).

Additional costs for books, laundry, and day-to-day living are not included.

What is the student body size? Faculty to student ratio?

Faith is a smaller, more intimate student body size of 60-70.  This provides great opportunity for students to really get to know one another.  Currently we have about 26 staff and faculty, putting the student to staff ratio at about 3:1.  Staff and faculty are also able to connect with the students and develop lasting relationships, with great opportunity to impart more personally into each life.

Do I have to pay extra for a meal plan?

No.  Meals are included in what the student receives as part of dormitory living.  If they do not like what is being offered, there is a reasonably priced “Snack Bar” available on campus.

Will my child be comfortable?

We at Faith work hard to see that all of our students are comfortable, happy, and have their needs met on a physical, spiritual and emotional level.

Is there security?

Yes.  We have security at Faith, as the safety of our students is very important to us.  We make sure each student is where they are supposed to be every night through our Resident Assistants.

Who should my child see if there is an issue?

At Faith, we have a series of staff and faculty members students can see if an issue arises.  There are mentors that work closely with small groups of students here on Campus, Deans for men and women, Resident Assistants, a dean of academics, a director of student life, and a director of the facilities.  The safety and well-being of all our students is very important to us here at Faith.

Can my child work?

Yes.  We do our best to accommodate those students who hold off Campus jobs.

What kind of standards do you have?

At Faith, our desire is to see students grow in the Lord and the plan He has for their lives.  We do not expect perfection, but rather look to teach the importance of modesty, pure actions, respect for authority, self and others, and the necessity of a daily, devoted relationship with God.

What are the Chapel services like?

We at Faith believe in the power of the Holy Spirit.  We allow Him to move and operate in our Chapels weekly.  The Lord uses President Ward and other anointed speakers to minister to our students and staff on very pertinent and relevant topics.  Our worship in Chapels is truly dynamic!  We have a tremendous music team, consisting of leaders Paul and Heather Rogers, and various gifted students with the desire to be involved in the music ministry.

Do you give any discounts?

We have a variety of discounts available to our students:  we offer discounts to children of Alumni, and children of active ministers. These discounts are by request and simple evaluation.

Do you accept international students?

Yes. We are approved to enroll international students in our three-year Diploma in Theological Studies.

Our student body has always been comprised of about 20% or greater foreign students (Canadian & Others).  There are a few extra steps in the application process to get international students here and minimal additional fees.  The admissions team gladly works with our international applicants through this process.  It brings us great joy to see students from every nation gathering together with a common purpose of worshipping and serving the Lord God Almighty.
